How about this idea, a pyramid shaped hammock that can support more weight. A shade heavier perhaps and it does need three anchor points.

Interesting concept. Much better than a spreader bar setup for the weight.

3 point suspension set up won't appeal to those who actually do a lot of hammocking.

Explain your comment, elaborate a little. I don't think hammock people would be bothered being comfortable. Especially since that is why they like using a hammock in the first place.

I have enough trouble finding two suspension points that work without having to chop down intervening saplings and underbrush around here. Can't imagine how long I'd search to get three with proper spacing.

Love seeing new ideas and concepts …. there have been a lot of 3 point suspension hammock concepts including the hammock tents which look fun, but so not doable in backpacking applications, 3 suspension points is immediate dealbreaker, sometimes finding simple 2 points can be a real challenge …. can be fun if you're in the local park or car camping though ….

I'm not sure if you hammock much (maybe you do), but in an appropriately-sized hammock you are able to get a nearly flat lay by laying across the diagonal of the hammock. By adding a third attachment point this is made impossible.

The only 3 point attachment hammock I would be interested in would be the one made by treefool, who uses it for camping much higher above ground than any of us are likely to do :)
