Hello again,
quite a few people have noted the similarity between the Eureka/Nigor Moyo and the Golite Ion daysack:

Ion / Moyo

Perhaps you, like me, were quite sad to see the Ion disappear from the Golite range; I still see plenty of people talking about buying the Moyo while they have the chance. Of course, being an EU product it is not easy to find a shop that will ship stateside. It struck me that living in Austria myself, I am well placed to purchase the Moyo and then ship it onwards. What I want personally though is to deconstruct the Moyo for experimental purposes (if you take my meaning), so I can get a better idea of how the individual panels are shaped: the Moyo has a nice egg timer shape that is very hard to replicate without software. What I propose then is this: I put together a list of interested parties who would like to contribute to the cost of the pack (pm me please and leave a note here); I purchase a Eureka/Nigor Moyo daysack; take plenty of detailed photos that I post in this thread along with any important observations regarding the construction; rip the seams and separate the pack into its basic components (which can be discussed here beforehand if necessary); then post the parts to the next interested party, who will in turn post them on when he has satisfied himself as to the basic aspects of the pack etc etc. At this stage I am just looking to put together a list, obviously the more people on it the cheaper the pack becomes but on the other hand, the longer it takes to get round the group. The full list will be posted here and we can keep track of the pack via this thread (please post when you send and receive the pack). If enough people come forward I will buy the pack out of my own pocket, then confirmed parties can send me their share via paypal (sorry folks, paypal only). Like I say, due to intellectual property issues this must be done solely for 'experimental' purposes, and not sold on outside the group or used for commercial gain; although exactly what Nigor would do about it is unclear to say the least ;). So, if you want to help immortalize this seminal pack for future generations, then send me a pm

Regards
Matt

How about just doing a group buy for overseas customers? That would also lower the price for your "experiments". I know i'd sign up for it.

A Group buy is pretty much what I am suggesting. What exactly don't you like about the above if I may ask?

Not speaking for Matthew, but I read your OP as asking for others to go in on buying ONE pack to pick apart, rather than what he is suggesting: a group buy of many packs.

I see. The Moyo costs €69, and there is no discount on bulk purchases. So I wouldn't really save anything.

I see. I'd be interested in finding the pack at a discount and doing a group buy, but not reverse engineering/tearing apart a pack. I understand why you want to, though. It's hard for me to believe we could not get some kind of discount for a bulk purchase, at least enough to make up shipping to the states…?
