How do I patch my Montbell pillow?

My trusty Montbell pillow has started leaking thru 2 microscopic holes on the top side near the "inner welds".

How do I patch it properly? Rough it up; adhesive; patch; add heat; what? I have the kit that came with it (patch and adhesive) and want to get it right, but Montbell included no instructions and will not respond to my request for instructions.

Thanks in advance for your help!

For small holes, I clean with soap and water (de-grease), rinse well, then clean with alcohol just to be sure it grease/oil free.

Then I apply a small dab of McNett's SeamGrip, gently and neatly "stir" it into the fabric with a tooth pick to assure wettting/bonding. When I'm done I have a neat round bump of SeamGrip. Let it dry for a couple of days, because of its thickness.

Montbell pillow, Thermarest, Exped Syn Matt are all going strong after repairs.

Thank you Greg.

I am concerned (albeit a tiny bit) about the "grippyness" of seamgrip or similar being uncomfortable by itself or perhaps pulling a bit on my beanie's material, that's why I hoped to use the patch of material, cut to size. It should feel the same as the pillow material.

Am I off base on this?

Hey Todd–

Check out Tear-Aid type A. It flexes, so as air moves around in your pillow, it will move and flex with that. Put a tiny dab of Seam Grip on the holes as previously described, then slap the Tear-Aid over top. You can probably also just tape it and not use any Seam Grip, I believe that's what the Tear-Aid instructional video says to do for patching an inflatable mattress. Test it, if the tape comes off, add Seam Grip to the equation and tape again

edit: also, it is not grippy feeling on top.

"Am I off base on this?"

The holes in my Montbell are pretty well centered, I always wear a fleece hat, never had a problem.

YMMV

Thank you both. I love the pillow so I want it right!
