My pair of Ragged Mt. mitt shells is at least 10 years old, but look pretty much like the same thing in the pics. They're heavy: 7.0 oz for the pair in XL. But they're very durable, and large enough to fit comfortably over my huge boiled wool mittens for very cold winter temps.

I've used the MLDs too, but they wore out fairly quickly with heavy trekking pole use.
An alternative with more durable palm-side fabric are the Extremities Tuff Bag GTX.

After I cut off the seemingly useless wrist straps, they come to 2.9oz/pair in XL (3.2 oz prior to mod). Only used once so far so can't vouch for long-term durability, but they seem good so far. Had to order from UK, but they came immediately.

agh yeah 7 oz is a bit heavier than I was hoping :/
I am not psyched about the price of the other ones and may just try and make my own… I am not too concerned about the fit as long as they have thumbs

In addition to the heavy weight, we don't know anything about the fabric's hydrostatic head or breathability.

Mammut makes a Cover Mitten which is around 50g per pair, but it's not cheap.

I'm not aware of any lightweight Neoshell mitts yet.
