I was looking forward to trying out the new REI Flash packs but they were removed from the store floor according to the folks at our local REI ,for some problem that they did not have details on. Anyone here with insight?

> the concern with the newest Flash 62[2] /58 packs released just this spring has to do with quality.
> In particular, an incorrect fabric was used in construction of part of the hip belt, I believe, and this did not match the approved spec design. Stock in stores was pulled & returned, and new models with correct materials should be back online & in stores later this spring.
> Having reviewed the packs before shipping them out from my store, the material looked much the same as any other pack’s hip belt – I imagine they will perform just fine for years to come. Nevertheless, members & customers who purchased the pack are to be notified and informed they can return the pack if they would like. I’m not sure of the timeline for notices to be sent to customers on quality issues, but you should probably receive one soon if you bought the affected pack.

That's interesting if they removed it due to a problem with the packs, since they are still selling them on their outlet site.

The recall only refers to the 2014 edition of multi-day Flash packs. The mustard yellow Flash 62 came out in 2013.
