I just finished my 2nd MYOG backpack. This is my first post and I just want to thank all the good folks on this site for all the help and inspiration. I made this for my lady. She has a short torso 15". I made the top of the pack a bit higher to increase the volume.PackPackPackBack of the packFront of the purple girl
Materials Used:
PU coated 2.3 oz Rip Stop Nylon
1.1 oz Silnylon
3D Spacer Mesh
Power Mesh
All the other goodies you can see in the pictures. I used two layers of 1/4" foam in the shoulder pads. I then had to hand stitch because it would fit in my machine. Took the pack to a shoe guy. Problem solved he had no problem going through it with some nice nylon thread. Had him do the hip belt as well. My lady likes padding.
I've got another pack started now with a single aluminum stay robbed from another pack.
thought I would share this one. Thanks for looking. God bless. GO PACK!

That's a nice flying purple people eater! That's a nice color combo. Very Decepticon.
I'm making a pack for my lady as well, but going the opposite direction with bright colors and heavy duty/framed.

How much can you load up in that thing?

Yes, Christopher that's my ocean container
I scored it on craigslist.
Look to the left and yes, that's a toilet.
didn't even notice that eye candy till just now.pack
And E I just took some measurements and this is what I got:
12" x 8" x 22" = 2,112 in/3 Main Body
You could get more in it with the extention collar though.
with the pockets and everything maybe 2,400 in/3
Just a guess. Did I do that right?

As a woman, I HAVE to tell you — that is one of the PRETTIEST packs ever! Love the purple and black, so chic! And beautifully sewn, too.

Hey, if she doesn't want it in the end, 15" torso is exactly my size!!!! ;^)

Great looking pack/color scheme. Can't let my wife see this then she'll make me make this for her…on the other hand, it would get her back out on the trail…
Anyways, your description mentioned 2 different types of mesh..can you specify type to application and maybe a few up close shots of the two types of mesh?
Thanks

He used 3D Spacer and Power mesh. The Spacer mesh went on the underside of the shoulder straps and hipbelt (the side that makes contact with the person), and I believe it's a 3mm thick one. It's pretty much some thick, bendy plasticky loops sandwiched by a soft mesh and fabric.

The Power mesh was used for the pockets, its a fine, medium duty 4 way stretch mesh. Seattle Fabrics carries it.

The 3D spacer mesh & power mesh were purchased at Quest Outfitters.
