I've just about redone my gear trying to accomplish UL w/ a hammock – and I'm finally looking at backpacks. If I'm using an underquilt does it make any sense to go frameless? It appears that I'll have to carry a pad that would only be used in the backpack or to sit on. How does the weight of something like a Conduit w/ a pad compare to one of the better light internal frame packs? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

I use a frameless pack (Essence '07) with a GG Nightlite pad. At just over 3 oz, it may be a lighter option then choosing a framed pack. Makes a nice cushy sit pad when I get to camp too!
You could try a Gossamer Gear Mariposa or Miniposa with a GG sitlight pad. The packs have internal stays so the need for a pad for support is lessened and the sitlight is like and ounce and a half.
