So I don't know if I am just slow on the uptake and everyone already knew this but the Meco line from Rab is badass. I bought a long sleeve Rab Meco 120 as my baselayer for skiing and since I'm a one outfit kind of guy the cocona fabric "no stink" technology really drew me in. Well, I wore that shirt for 6 days straight and by the end of the trip this shirt didnt stink at all! My "out on the town" clothes smelled worse than this thing. The nano puff I was also wearing was due for a washing the second day in but that Rab shirt just kept on rocking. Im a convert now and believe I'm gonna be selling all my Cap 2's and upgrading to this awesomeness.

HERE is the BPL review from 2012
Anyone try a long sleeve meco 120 for hot weather?
I'm curious if I can use it for sun protection in 80-90 degree heat.
^I've been wondering the same thing myself about sun protection. On their own website the product specs mention nothing about sun or SPF. I just called them and asked, and basically the fabric will provide some small measure of sun protection just because it is something blocking some of the sun's rays, but it doesn't have a special weave or treatment or material that specifically delivers a significant SPF.
I have not used a meco longsleeve in desert hot weather, but I used it extensively this summer in Colorado and in the mid/upper-80's it was fine. I use long sleeves, since I'm super pale and I dislike sunscreen so I choose to cover up rather than using sunscreen. I spent most of my time above 11, 0000 feet, so the sun is intense up there. I did not burn with this shirt, but I did show some color, so it's not a super high upf. At this point, it's the best option for me because I dislike the stink and feel (especially the lack of breatheability after it's dirty)after synthetics are used.
From RAB:
"Cocona® technology uses activated carbon gained derived from discarded coconut shells and other natural porous particles. Cocona® technology is contained inside the recycled fibre and will not wear out or wash off."
How is this possible? The way activated carbon works, is to absorb (adsorb, actually) stuff (smells, in this case) into small pores (activated carbon has a huge surface area), and when it is full, it is done. Other technologies that use activated carbon require you to replace the carbon periodically. How does this not?
I used meco 120 much of last summer in CO, & I often run in a meco short sleeve. It wouldn't be my first choice hot weather piece, but its passable & one of the lighter/cooler wool shirts out there. Sunblocking is fine, but i've never been burnt through a shirt before (probably just painlessly acquiring cancer) so its not the kind of thing I think about much. I'd like to try a rab aeon LS for hot weather. Its synth, but with polygiene

Wondering the same thing. I am a wool freak because there aren't any properties in my wool that fade over time. I invest in a wool shirt and keep using it for years, until I really wear it out. My oldest wool shirt, a plain black Smartwool midweight crew, still looks good enough to take girls on dates in after three years of using it 3-4 days a week, 7+ months out of the year, and every single trip.
No way RAB Meco is legitimately stink-proof with synthetic fibers and a plant-based treatment.
Someone tell me I'm wrong and why.
Is it possible that when the fabric is run through the laundry that it cleanses the activated carbon? So the odor-trapping qualities of the fabric are permanent, assuming you wash the garment every now and then?
I wash my cabon infused clothing for hunting with special soap made for that clothing.
I will definitely be trying these out. I wear merino every day and am fed up with how quickly it wears out. If these lasted longer and were quicker drying I would be happy, even if they were a bit stinkier.
I try not to dabble to much in the scientific aspect of things. I figure if it works it works. Im okay with PFM.
The only reason I don't have more than just my one rab meco long sleeve shirt is the price. It's ridiculously expensive. Anyone find anywhere to buy them in the states at a reasonable price or a similar wool/synthetic blend? Campsaver often has them on sale, but in few sizes.
