I have a regular synmat 7 and love the way the fabric feels over my original neoair mainly because of the less grippy feel. I'm a side sleeping flipper and the neoair tugs at my bag too much. How does the UL version of the synmat compare in texture? Thanks guys!

Compared to the regular Synmat, the UL7 is even more slippery. Definitely no snag there. Unfortunately, this also translates to a bit of sliding around if you're on an incline.

It is slicker than the "normal" version. I sleep right on it with a quilt and find it feels fine, and I'm usually pickly about sleeping directly on "plastic."

Be aware, however, that the bottom of a UL can make a huge amount of noise if its on top of certain tent floors. I have a very old Kelty (1988) that I still use sometimes, and it squeaked like mad whenver I moved on the UL7. I email Exped, and they confirmed that they had heard this regarding certain types of tent floors.
