Montbell's updated line of bags is out. The Down Hugger 2 looks pretty sweet — 900 fp down in a bag that weights 24 oz. Nice. Might have to sell one of my kids to get one though.

Edit: yeah, screwed up weight in small keyboard haste.

I see the Down Hugger 900 # 2 with a weight of 24.3 oz.

I saw those but the cheaper version (albeit a #3 and not a #2) is just a little less warm, weighs less, and is substantially less expensive. What is the draw with these new bags except that they are the newest and greatest?

Yes, theoretically an upgrade but I am not seeing the expected benefits necessarily.

12 oz of fill in a 25 degree bag that weighs 24 oz does not seem very impressive.

yeah, but i think a lot of bags in this class cut down on weight through slimmer profiles. i for one can't sleep in those straight jackets. i'm attracted to this bag bc as a flippin' floppin' side sleeper i think it will be a super comfortable true 3 season bag for the sierras. i just bought a 0 degree UL super stretch bag (on advice of some bpl'ers) and the stretch system is insanely good.

You don't buy this bag for the warmth/oz, its because of the stretch baffles. Being spoiled with the warmth per weight of Katabatic, it might be hard to switch for me, but compared to other sleeping bags, its like carrying an extra couple of oz for a more comfortable rest. Not bad IMO.
