For each half cup of water, I use one mouthful.

I just get used to different amounts filling the pot to different levels. I have a 750 ml pot – filled almost to the top is 3 cups. To the bottom handle mount is 1 cup, top handle mount is 2 cups. I just estimate half cups in between. It is better to under estimate, than over estimate.

Just fill it up a few times with different amounts and see where they fall.

My spacesaver cup has indentations, I really like them.

You just inspired me to indent my pot. Should be easy. Place wood 2×4 skinny side up on table, and peen in some little divots with a punch from the outside for various volume.
