My in-laws recently retired down to Eastern NC and I was looking for a place to go hiking/backpacking while down there, though I usually prefer to spend my time there fishing, at the beach or golfing.
I was surprised, given its size, to find that Croatan NF only has one real hiking trail, the Neusiok Trail. From what I've read its a bit hit or miss and is often not in the best of condition and hard to follow at times.
I was wondering if anyone here had any first hand experience and what their thoughts were. It seems like it might be a nice potential overnighter with some of the family… or without if I need to escape!
