For those of you who use wood stoves in your shelters – do you put a rain cap on it? I can see that there's no big need when the fire is running but I'd hate to have the rain trickle in during the night. Even worse, I'd hate to have to get out while it's raining to disassemble the chimney. Any thoughts?

I don't use a rain cap nor do I see any need for one. I did experience an extreme rainstorm event once in late October (pineapple express)and did not notice any issues with the stovepipe. My buddies silnylon Kifaru shelter was misting pretty good to give you an idea of the force of the rain. As for pipe disassembly, I just pull it inside the shelter to take it apart after everything else is packed up and out of the way. One additional tip: Once a day when the stove is cold, detach from the pipe and take the stove outside to dispose (responsibly of course) of the ashes. These small stoves can get a little overwhelmed by ash buildup.
