I know that these 2 tents are very similar. Both weigh within 3 ounces of each other. There are a couple structural differences, aside from the pole system setup. The Lightheart, for example, is a diamond shape, where the foot area of the SMD is a boxed shape.

I'm going to be moving up to the Seattle area, and am wondering if any of the differences between these 2 tents would make a difference with the rain and condensation that I will be hiking in while living in the PNW. I'm used to So Cal, where condensation is rarely a problem.

Just to clarify, the Lightheart Gear Solo, at 27 oz, and the SMD Trekker, at 24 oz.

Thoughts are appreciated.

I was looking at these two tents too and went with the Solo. I know that the Trekker is only 80% double wall, while the Solo is 100%. I don't know if that would make a big difference with condensation, but I decided on the Solo just in case.

If you find yourself moving to Seattle, you're more than welcome to check out my Lightheart cuben solo with awning.

John, is that the cuben version of the Wedge? I was also thinking about a Wedge, if I chose to go Lightheart, but don't know if the 1.5 oz increase would be worth the extra awning and view.

How do you like it? How has it handled the dampness of the PNW?

Sort of….. the cuben awning is like the silnylon wedge, but not removable. I wish i was able to unzip my awning for removal during real windy nights. I find i use the awning (wedge) when I am cooking in the rain.
Cuben fiber is FANTASTIC in the PNW rain. The two walls of the Lightheart really works well at keeping your gear and self from touching the exterior wall. I stay very dry in the tent.s
