Interesting new jackets from purveyor of fine, hand-crafted and stupid expensive British down makers, PHD. Both use some sort of new ultralight coated shell fabric they call Ultrashell. I would expect it to be similar to an ultralight version of Pertex Endurance, with a monolithic PU coating and HH of 500 to 1000.

"Sigma" primaloft jacket, 330g and claims to have 100gsm primaloft but I think that's a typo. Looks more like 60gsm. They rate it to -5C.

"Ultra" down jacket, rated to -5C as well but only 235g. Only 5g heavier than the Ultra pullover that Will Rietveld favourably reviewed but with a much more water resistant shell.

I like that you can add a snap on hood to that Sigma jacket as well. Curious about sizing.

The pricing may be a little on the high end but that's why you have to keep an eye out of their biannual sale's.

Luckily in the UK, more of Peter's kit ends up being resold on forums and eBay so there are some good deals to be had.

Down kit costs an small fortune over here….

Ito,

I have a PHD Yukon Jacket in Small – sizing is similar to a small in Arc'teryx, Marmot, Mountain Hardwear and Patagonia.
The Yukon was expensive but the construction is top-notch and it's very warm for the weight.

Hope this helps,

Dave
