I have asked many questions about rain jackets over the years but I think I may have it right now and would like feedback.

I am just going to use a windshirt for around town and in the summer out and about, 65F+.

When it gets colder I can put my fleece under it and create a Paramo type effect.

If I feel that the rain will be prolonged I can use a $1 rain jacket or a poncho/tarp if I am bringing one.

I am also thinking of buying an OR Rampart for the +/- 10F around freezing instead of Helly Hansen.

I mainly use just a trash bag rainskirt but also have a pair of the Golite full zip rain pants for the snow and bad conditions.

It just seems that for prolonged rain I want to use something that is impermeable because as EagleRiverDee said, WPB are great for drizzles and snow.

Likewise here. A wind shirt and a $1 poncho that weighs 1.9oz. I find it plenty durable if you are somewhat careful.

A wind shirt is super breathable compared to a expensive rain jacket. The plastic poncho gets you totally waterproof and the dwr is there just in case.

Unless it's super cold and wet it's hard to go wrong with that setup.
