I am wondering if any of you who have the Lunar Duo have used it without the curved spacer poles. I understand their function but am curious, if not using them, is there any issues with getting proper tension on the canopy?

I had one slide out in the middle of a very windy night. I guess I didn't have it in there securely enough to start with. While the tent didn't entirely collapse on me, the pitch became so loose that I was forced to get up and fix it. So while it would probably still work as a shelter, you'd be hard pressed to get anywhere close to a proper pitch.

I had no issues with my LD when I had it when not using the arch bars.
How much do the arch bars weigh?
Just weighed mine, 1.3 oz each.
I've forgotten mine on a number of occasions. Twice I have just found twigs to shove in there, worked fine. Other times just went without, headroom is greatly decreased but a pretty tight pitch is still possible, I feel like it's not as taut as with the bars though.
