With the winter we are having, I am looking to get a warmer winter bag. I found a Western Mountaineering Bag that is claimed at -10 degrees. It is roughly 10 years old, weighs 3 lb 9 oz.

I'm thinking an old Bristlecone or Lynx, but the colors(grey outer/black inner)are not the same, so I figured I would see if any one has had experience with this bag.

unless you really want/need a super-wide bag, a semi-rectangular shape might not be the best idea no matter what the temp rating. a semi-rectangular bag with a comparable temp rating to a mummy will be heavier and have more interior volume that needs to be heated. the mummy will be more efficent than the bigger bag.

I've been looking seriously at the Bristlecone. To me it seems the right mix between mummy and rectangle. I'm having trouble finding used ones, however, on the web. Might be an indicator of their worth to their owners. If you don't want that one you showed, let me know if it's available as I might be interested.

If your like a roomy comfortable warm bag then this will be the one for you. If you want a lighter bag where you feel like you are in the stomach of a python, then go with a mummy bag.
