Lightweight insect protection while sleeping in a bivy sack can be a challenge. I've had difficulties keeping built in nets off my face, even with a wired hood. The A16 bug bivy is effective but heavy and can be hard to pack. A billed cap with headnet doesn't help for side sleepers, and may not fit well with cold weather headgear.
The OR SpringRing headnet has been working great for me, though. It has been effectively keeping the net off my face when I turn over half asleep. It weighs 49g, heavy for a headnet but light for sleep protection. As a bonus, when I didn't bother setting up a tarp recently and ended up in a zipped bivy in the rain it kept a breathing hole open and relatively dry. ( As noted in the forum last year, it may not work well in warm weather.)
