I'm looking for a weekend backpacking trip in the southern sierra's. I'm fine with snow shoes, but not looking to use crampons or mountaineering gear. It has been such a low snow year, i'm hoping there might be some areas i can hike/drive into. Any advice would be appreciated.

Leor Pantilat runs in the sierras all the time and posts his trips.
A lot of good info for trips, many in the southern sierras as well. He does about 15 trips a year ranging from 25-75 miles.
Just check out each years Re-Cap and hit next on the top right of the screen to see the rest.
Click on the trip you want to see the trip report for.
His trip reports are top notch!
