I snared this new offering from Ron Bell. I got them specifically for a trip where my usual tarp supports—GG Light Trek fixed Trekking Poles—would get in the way on a trip involving a lot of extremely rugged terrain. For the weight of a single GG pole (about 2.6 oz.) you get a 42" front and 28" rear pole that will work for most solo size catenary cut tarps. They are very stiff for the weight (much stiffer than Fibraplex poles) and so stiff I'm thinking of fashioning a removeable makeshift handle for the longer pole so it could serve as an emergency trekking pole (for a little assistance on a snow slope, for instance). They are not as stiff as the single piece, thicker diameter Light Trek Poles. They are shockcorded and breadown to about 16". Ferrules are aluminum. The carbon-fiber pole stock is made by Easton.
