I have spent way too much time trying to figure this out. The Hadron anorak isn't enough warmth for me, and I'd prefer a heavier outer layer. I thought I'd manage down to 30F with a 100wt fleece and the Hadron. It seems silly to add a vest underneath and end up with a bad fabric:fill ratio. The Hadron looks kind of goofy too, with huge shoulders.
I wish Montbell made the Highland with higher fill down and a hood.
Any ideas? Any ideas for under 30d, too?
I might get this? ..but it's 22d…. http://www.geartrade.com/item/365657/down-sweater-full-zip-hooded-jacket-mens-black
Also, I read Richard Nisley say that 2oz jackets are '40f male class' (thermo-neutral at rest, I assume, and with no wind) and 16oz are -30F male class… I don't have more data to plot but is it roughly 5F per ounce? ie, 3oz is 35F, 4oz 30F, etc.?
