Another quilt problem, I have a feeling has been discussed somewhere…
I made a miniature cutout using an old towel, of a typical tapered design, and folded it up the way a quilt would be sewn, with the tapered end having two edges sewn together forming a footbox.
What I noticed, is what I clumsily depicted in the pictures. In other words, the usual taper layout in A, when folded over to form the quilt results in B (at the head end the corners tend to reach past the rest of the head end of the quilt, and, the footbox ends ups having a slightly triangular profile.
More importantly, the quilt doesnt seems to taper from the head all the way to the bottom…
What I would like for my double quilt, is something more like C, in which the head end is aligned (corners align with the rest of the head end), and entire quilt with the edges folded over for cold weather mode, to have more or less straight edges from head to about knee level, and then from the knee to the footbox, tapering in.
Is there a flat layout in which the quilt results in the C profile? Curved baffles? Am I missing something??

I'm not doubting the wisdom of the members, rather, I'm looking for someone to set my thinking straight!
Any tips greatly appreciated.
