Nice looking cozies! Which size would be better suited to fit in a quart sized freezer bag? I repackage all of my meals into freezer bags as they take up a bit less space. Right now, I just use the stand up foil pouch of a regular serving MH meal as a holder/cozy for all of my freezer bag meals and it has been working alright, but my food doesn't stay as warm for as long as I'd like. Thanks, and again, good looking cozy!

I think the small would fit the quart size bag. The large would for sure…but is it overkill?

Give me a little bit. I'll find a bag and show you some pictures.

Thanks for your interest.

A 1 qt Ziplock freezer bag is 7" x 9".

The inside diameter of the small Escape Pouch is 6 7/8"w x 7"h, and that of the large 8"w x 7.25"h.

Looks like the small would fit better. No exact, but assuming your freezer bag isn't full, it should work.

(Measurements of Escape Pouch taken from website, I don't have an actual Escape Pouch in hand – yet!)

Stephen…you are hot on my heels. I just updated the measurements, came back here and you already posted them. Thanks.

Robert…these pics should answer your question. Thanks again for your interest.

I took some pictures to show you just how well it fits. I used a quart size bag (added some gatorade for color) and filled it with 32 oz of flagstaff tap. See for yourself.

Are there any good dual-uses for the cozy? I want one, but it's hard for me to justify the weight.

1) I'll bet that 2 cans of cold beer will fit in that cozy, and they should stay cold for a few hours. The larger one might hold more beer, though…

2) Maybe you could store your cheese and chocolate in one to keep them out of the heat? The only thing worse than funky warm cheese is…funky warm chocolate.

3) Carry a couple of fine steaks in one (vacuum sealed and frozen at home). If you kept it in a cool place it might even last for the 2nd night's dinner. I've actually done this with one of his Outsaks, without a cozy–just drop the mesh bag into a cold mountain stream, having tethered it to a nearby tree.

4) Carry your cold lunch items while on a day hike. This looks much more portable and space-saving than the Escape Pods.

5) Use it to signal the rescue chopper with.

6) How about this–buy one of each size, and slip the large one over the stuff in the small one. If they fit like that, you would have a smallish super cooler. Like the Escape Pods, but flat.

More and more people are carrying nooks and kindles. You could use it to pad those devices.

Gary is correct…2 12 oz cans fit in the small, but its snug. They would be more comfortable in the large. It would also be more packable with a little flexibility.

The pic below is of 2 cans in the small.

And they do pack together. we found this out this morning when we started shipping them.
the 2 pics below show it packed together.

I like the idea of chocolate and cheese. We have a very definite chocolate season here in Arizona.

I would put my small cook pot/kitchen kit in there in a heartbeat to keep it quiet and protect my other gear. You will need both at the same time anyway.

Looks nice and clean. I have used my Z-seat foam sit pad as a makeshift dinner cozy, adding a few rocks to keep in it place, but this is much nicer.

I just thought of yet another use for these cozy thingies–in winter, place your fuel canister in it, along with a fresh chemical hand warmer. You'll have a functional stove (canister) anytime throughout the evening, unless temps dip much below 0* F.

Gary- I like the ideas.

Dale-thank you for the kind words.

All orders have been shipped or are ready to ship.

Many thanks to all who have purchased, looked, commented. Feedback of any sort is always appreciated. The sale is going to continue thru the weekend and into next week. People who have ordered will have them in their hands before the sale ends. Hopefully some of these people can come back by and share their thoughts.

Have a great day.

Received my small yesterday, and it is one nice piece of kit! Quart size bags fit absolutely perfectly which was important. I really liked the details like sewn edges instead of reflectix tape, velcro closure, etc. Definitely a step above my old cobbled together cozy, and a hell of a deal considering the amount of thought and work that goes in to your pouches, nicely done.

Protects my beer can pot too in the pack which is a nice side benefit.

Thanks David, the product looks great. Much better than my own homemade version!

I ordered one of each size, and they arrived within a few days. Speedy service and turnaround! These are made very well, like all of the S.O.S. products. Dave puts a lot of attention into detail, and it shows. There will be all kinds of uses for these sweet cozies. Thanks for the great BPL price and service, Dave!

Gary and John…

Thanks and you're welcome!! we are officially "caught up" and rebuilding stock. we should be able to keep up….for now.

Mine arrived in great shape, both sizes. In case anyone is wondering, the small
Escape Pouch fits neatly in the large one! The pouches are very well made, and will, I'm sure, work just fine. The little touches, like the fold-over lid that doubles as a handle, are more than worth the slight extra weight. Thanks for your creative efforts on our behalf!

Great job on these little bad boys—the craftsmanship and attention to detail is amazing. Can't say enough about them—can't wait to put my dinner and er uh beverages of choice in them.

nice job,

Couch

Stephen and Dave…

Happy to hear that you are happy. We learned a lot about sewing reflectix when we started with the Escape Pod. Attention to detail is what we do. We don't outsource anything. All products are made by us from start to finish.

I think I might start sewing this stuff with sunglasses or by candlelight. my eyes are playing tricks on me. too much reflection.

the sale ends early Sunday morning.

happy weekend.

I thought of another dual use for the Escape Pouch: It might make a good binocular case.

PostedFeb 1, 2014 at 6:53 am

It is down to the last 24 hours. About this time tomorrow morning I'll be changing the price on the blog post and a shipping charge will be associated with all orders under $30.
Here's the link again

We really appreciate the turnout for this product but all good things must come to an end. My family wants to see me so I have to stop sewing for a day or two. a day. half a day.
