I finally conned myself into beleiving it was justifiable to spend $60 (australian) on an aluminium cooking pot! A Snow Peak TREK900, the one with the 'leave in the kitchen and eventually find a use for it' lid. Of course I have long forgotten the $60 and love my little pot.

I don't mind the handles but would want to compensate by not carrying my cutdown pot gripper. But now I have to con myself into beleiving the handles will cool down quickish enough.

Any truth to my lie ?

Sorry Ian, but you were conned. What's wrong with the old school solution. Raid your mum's kitchen for one of her old cake tins. About a litre, and if you're lucky, even anodised.

I have found that i can lift my snowpeek 700 without a pot gripper VERY soon after a boil. ti doesn't conduct heat very well and its rim of my pot is never to hot to handle. The only time I have had a problem was cooking over an open fire. I had to use a handkerchief to get my food out o there. My hands are calloused, because I am a construction electrician, but not to any super human degree. But do use a cotton handkerchief, plastic melts.

I agree ! ! !
My last pot cost me a dollar or two at a charity shop.
I bought the peak only because I was given some money to spend for my birthday and rarely ever indulge myself so did this once.

I also bought a titanium spoon which I was happy to do as it folds in half and much easier to stow.

'Titanium + Spoon' wierd combination of words !
