Scott, it seems that your Luke's Ultralight link leads to this thread.

The Borah vest is the lightest, as you mentioned, but it also lacks a collar. I find that a collar has a big effect on the warmth of a vest or jacket, particularly if it is windy. If you decide to pay for the BRG vest, be familiar with the material options. The "7DS" is silnylon. I have misgivings about using silnylon for the outer shell of a down vest. The Luke's Ultralight vest seems like a good option. It has a puffy collar and a full zip. Also, keep in mind that Ben at Goosefeet would probably make you a vest at a price between the LU and BRG vests that has box baffles (plus the other standard features: 10D fabric, a puffy collar, and water resistant down). It would be as light as the others but warmer.

These all look good to me, but only one price looks good, so I went with that one. Mine should arrive Thursday or Fri, although if it fits good enough I doubt they'll be much to write home about. It seems like just about the lightest warm(ish) thing you could put on.

I have a Western Mountaineering (Flash?) I think. One thing I like better about Black Rock Gear and Luke's vests is the collar (the WM is only shoulders and body insulation like the Borah). That said, the thing is stuffed and puffy, as well as super warm and light. Anyway, it waa $50 on Gear Swap and I couldn't be happier.

i went with the borah gear vest, and it just arrived today. As I had hoped, there is not much to review here, its utterly simple, it weighs to spec and it fits (albeit a little roomier than I would like for a size M). I think it'll prove itself useful in a range of situations for the weight of a light windshirt.

My XL came in at exactly 4 ounces. In general, I agree about the benefits of a collar, although the Borah did align nicely right next to the merino wool buff I was wearing around my neck. Combined with a UL windshirt, this combo could be appropriate for many situations. The armholes are not oversized which I believe is a benefit as to not allow too much air/heat exchange in the underarm. He is using the newer Argon fabric with "ripstop" I believe $100 might only be an introductory price.

Luke's Ultralight has 2 versions of his vest, one with a WPB pertex outer, the other with 10D.
He also sells matching down sleeves to go with them but that adds a lot to the cost.

I use a buff so the lack of a collar on the Borah is fine for me.
I'm pretty sure you could get it full zip for extra. I got the down pants with a full zip.
