I’ve been thinking about simplifying/lightening my “Big 4” for a September HST trip this year and the “What’s your big four weigh/cost?” thread gave me the opportunity to review quite a few setups in one thread which was great!

I’m considering moving to a Katabatic Quilt (Sawatch or Alsek, re: light) and getting away from my Marmot Sawtooth (re: heavy). This will be my first quilt, but I’ve often used my Sawtooth unzipped as a “quilt.” To “simplify things” I’d also like to move from an inflatable pad to a CCF (RidgeRest) for this trip and pair it with the quilt inside of my Notch (fly only, re: simpler/lighter) with no ground cloth, just a Large RidgeRest. Good idea? Bad idea? Do quilts pair well with CCF pads? If I buy a wide quilt am I going to risk getting it dirty with no ground cloth?

Lastly, I would like to consider swapping out my Exos to something lighter that will still carry ~6.5 days of food and a BV450 or comparable. GG Mariposa maybe?

Any advice would be great!

Adrien
