I LOVED the arcteryx palisade pants. But the new version is missing the little zip pockets I used for Chapstick, knife, lighter, etc., and seem to come in darker colors, which I've found to absorb more sunlight, and conceal Mosquitos, ticks, etc. I'm bummed.

Is there a comparable alternative I should be looking at?
Here's what I'm looking for:
-10oz or less
-super durable for talus and scrambling stuff.
-built in belt.
-tan/khaki/ or light grey color.
-little zip pocket near hand pocket for Chapstick, knife, lighter
-no cotton. Nylon or similiar.
-similiar fit as dead bird palisades.

Christopher,

I've been wearing ArcTeryx Ramparts for a while but recently picked up a pair of 1st Ascent (Eddie Bauer) Guide Pants; I really like them, slim(mer) fit compared to some baggy hiking pants, two regular hand pockets, two slanted flat zip pockets below those, nylon with some spandex stretch.

On sale for $70.00 online right now and EB seems to have sales all the time.

The eb guides pants are not very durable IMO, i blew thru two pairs in two years

Any light softshell/nylon pants around that weight will do the job

Just pick up whatever fits best from a decent brand

I use a paird of "stormtech" ones that i picked up for 20 smackaroos right now

;)

I've been really happy with Prana Stretch Zion pants, both convertible and regular. Light, flexible, relatively durable, built in belt, and excellent fit. It has a zippered cargo pocket, which sort of meets your criteria there. The regular hand pockets have been deep enough for me that I've never lost items out of them when sitting around camp or on the go.
