Hooded Fleece Pullover

Now I have an interesting idea that you might like. If you can find a Powerstrech hoody, like the Wildthings Hoody for 10 ounces which is moderately expensive at $90-100, I like the fabric because its alot more comfortable and breathable than the higher level piles, and many people use them with a thin windshell or a waterproof jacket, which would probably be even warmer than just a 300 weight hoody. For the sake of arguement, I have found the arcteryx covert hoody, which looks real warm but at the astronomical price of $200, and a quick search on REI has the marmot bonfire 15 ounces and 80$, the REI hoody 20oz/30-50$, EMS has one called the "biederman" on their site, which is part polyester fleece with added rayon, which I've just learned is some sort of silk-like fabric, for $30 and probably around 20 ounces. Another idea that would create a really awesome warm hoody, would be to buy a powerstretch pullover like the cloudveil Run don't Walk, and then buy a balaclava and sew and cut it so that its a really tight and warm hood with the mouth exposed, which is what I plan to do for a really nice winter baselayer. But the best bang for ya buck is most likely the mid-priced Wild Things, the fabric is really nice, and it also has thumbholes, which make tops very comfortable and keep your wrists toasty.

By the way, Welcome to the forums, there is a forum in the chaff section called New Guy where a couple of other people like myself are introducing themselves, and I looked at your other post, and I think something that may be good is the Sanuk Donny, which is made by what appears to be a bunch of Hippies, but looks pretty comfy.

Something as common as fleece, I recommend any wal-mart, REI, LLBean or generic fleece item. You can get them used for less than $10 on ebay.

When you get into synthetic fill hooded pullovers; the options get reduced quite a bit.

I agree with Brett, but if you really want to go new, check out MEC at http://www.mec.ca
They have some nice hoodies, including on with a hard finished face, or a nice Schoeller soft shell around the CA$160 mark

You could look at Melanzana’s Micro Grid Hoodie or their Wind Pro 200 Hoodie, both reasonably priced. If you call them you can talk to a genuine Colorado hippy.
