Keep in mind that there should be more water than when these guys went. Late May is typically the high point for the Escalante.
I am planning to put in at the Egypt Trailhead, hike to the Escalante, and then raft the roughly 40 miles to the takeout at Coyote Gulch. I will then hike the gulch back to Hurricane Wash. Depending on our speed, I would explore some of the canyons along the Escalante leading up to Coyote Gulch.
The trip will require one shuttle at a cost of $275, which I'll split. The Hole in the Rock road is notorious.
