We did part of Section A of the Pacific Crest Trail from Warner Springs to Scissors Crossing on Saturday, December 28, 2013 through Sunday, December 29, 2013. We went South Bound from mile 109.4 to mile 77.6, for a total 31.8 miles. We did this over two days: Saturday, December 28, 2013 and Sunday December 29, 2013. We staged a car a Scissor Crossing and drove a 2nd car to Warner Springs. The trail was very well maintained and pleasant in both grade and tread. Barrel Springs (about 8 miles from the start) still had water flowing, but we had cached our own water there for the rest of the trip so we didn't use this spring. We walked about 18 miles to 3rd Gate (from Warner Springs). There is a large water cache here but we didn't need it. Apparently, the cache was replenished in November 2013. On day 2 we walked 14 miles to Scissor Crossing (past another water cache under the bridge). While we walked through some older burn areas, the walk was still very scenic and worth the effort. The weather was perfect: In the 60s during the day and down to the low 40s at night. I am usually pleasantly surprized by the nice walking on the PCT in the lesser-known areas. Let me know if you have any more specific questions.
