Hey all – came across this today when searching for a new baselayer, and am curious as to what people think:
http://www.indigenous.com/shop/product/fair-trade-button-hoodie-smoke
I'm looking for a hooded baselayer (if I don't find what I like I'm just defaulting to the Ibex Indie). I might email this company to try to learn more details about the Alpaca wool, but I wanted to know if anybody had tried this company before and had anything to report. I like the fact that they focus on corporate social responsibility and would like to support that if it's a worthwhile product, and the price sure seems right as well.
Thanks in advance,

My apologies Max. Perhaps I should chill as much as I like to tell others to.
Jan 2, 2014 at 1:37 pm #2059728Not that it helps in the least bit…but…I have a Kuhl alpaca wool hoody and it is super warm and comfy. It is, however, zipped and not that light.
I would love to try a pullover, hooded, thin, alpaca "sweater".

If you are still looking for alternatives you could check the Rab Meco Hoodie – a merino cocona blend.
http://us.rab.uk.com/products/mens-clothing/baselayer/meco-165-hoodie.htmland there is a Spanish UL cottage maker, As Tucas. I ordered his Schoeller fabric hoodie that was very nicely made, and he gave me great service/was a pleasure to work with.
There is a merino wool version too.http://astucas.com/en/clothing/zilindro-hoody

If I'm not out to dinner or at a wedding, I don't have any cotton on.
Jan 2, 2014 at 3:49 pm #2059787You wear cotton to dinner and weddings? Philistine!
Jan 2, 2014 at 4:13 pm #2059791You know if cotton gets even the slightest bit wet, your body temperature will drop by 10 degrees instantly killing you.
Don't mess around with cotton. Cotton kills.Jan 2, 2014 at 4:26 pm #2059800AnonymousInactiveIts true, i've died at least 5 times so far from wearing cotton and it getting wet.
People, for Gawd's sake, don't mess around.
Anyways, i have some real alpaca sweaters (no hoodies), if anyone wants to temporarily try one out (aka borrowing) let me know.
The Kuhls stuff btw is not alpaca, but alfpaca, which is a blend of acrylic, polyester, and rayon i believe.
Jan 2, 2014 at 5:24 pm #2059813Alfpaca, I'm dying.
