I have an old cashmere top that was given to me, and I was thinking of modifying it to make it into a hiking shirt. It has a big cowl neck that seems a bit too bulky and I might cut that off and make it a crew neck. The top has a lot of holes anyway and can’t be worn in dressy situations.
Just wondering though: are there any issues with cashmere that make it unsuitable as a substitute for the merino shirt?
I’ve used a number of old wool sweaters as warm layer tops over the years. As long as itch factor doesn’t hit you too hard it should work great.
