…But I've never looked at my duvet cover and thought, "I wish you were sleek and shiny like my sleeping bag." Still, looks like they've reached their goal almost 10x over, so what do I know.

The Thermarest Tech blanket is a similar concept. Seems the DIY folk could knock this out in their sleep.

Years ago we had a rectangular Quallofil sleeping bag and I was able to remove the zipper with no further sewing or modification. We used it far more as a blanket.

Don't much see the point Scott personally. I'm assuming they are using nylon shell. Nylon isn't always the best feeling stuff on naked skin imo/e (textured stuff like supplex is fine though).

There are many Down alternative blankets out there that use synthetic fiber fill, and have also an all synthetic shell–usually polyester (with no duvet). I have one that has a polyester micro fiber short pile side and a smooth side that i picked up at Costco. The poly microfiber short pile feels really nice to the touch.

Cost was like 20 dollars i think. Since it's on the bed, and not getting constantly compressed and beat up, nor does it need to be washed that often since it goes on top of a thick, natural fiber sheet, it should last plenty long.

I think they are appealing more to a "look" or "style" rather than anything practical or necessary. Me, as theoretical as i can be and get, ultimately i'm extremely pragmatic with zero interest in looks, style, social status, and anything that isn't ultimately practical or doesn't work, gets thrown out quick (whether things, beliefs/ideas, etc).

"The Rumpl sounds more like some new fangled toilet paper. "

Or maybe a baby blanket (or should I say "blankie").
