A BPLer asked me if I thought he could fit in a Ruta Locura Lone Peak shelter. He's 6'5". He mentioned the difficulty he was having finding a shelter he could use without pressing against the walls. I told him, since I'm just hanging at the house with the pup today, that I'd set it up and take some measurements. I also took some photos, and decided I'd post it all up here so other tall folks could benefit from the info as well.
FWIW, the Lone Peak w/stove boot weighs 21.5 oz on my cheapo kitchen scale. The UltaMid 2 (original version) with 4 guy lines supplied by HMG weighs 18 oz. The box in the pictures is 11.25" tall with the flaps up, and is set at the very end of the 'mat'. It slightly touches each shelter, but only slightly. Head end of the 'mat', rolled up, does not touch the other ends. The tape measure is set to 7' where it meets the housing, so 7' long not including the housing. Wasn't thinking, so the head end of the mat is different in the two setups – the rolled bit ends at 7' with the Lone Peak, rolled end goes past 7' in the Ultamid, but you can see where there 7' ends on the flat piece.
I used the supplied pole to set up the Lone Peak, I used two of its sections and a pair of CP3 poles to set up the Ultamid in inverted V to increase floor space. Much more extra space in the Lone Peak, you could fit another shorter person in there easily. Not so with the Ultamid as the 'mat' is set from far left corner to near right corner, though there is plenty of room for gear inside.
