I've been wearing Bedrock Earthquake sandals for hiking/running since September and I really like them, but the rubber top footbed is pretty slippery when wet, and I needed something just a little bit thicker for backpacking. I played around with a few different options for the footbed, and what happened to be a good compromise between wet grip and nice "underfoot" feeling turned out to be 10z canvas duck. The sole is 10mm Vibram Newflex, and the straps are straight from Bedrock with a melted-in toe plug ($10 and free shipping!). They are a smidge long, so I may trim the toe end back a bit, but otherwise fit and feel great. Now I need a day off to abuse em!

My friend thought the tying would be easier with more holes.
Here is what he came up with.

For traditional tied laces, that sounds like a good plan, although I've found the more times the laces go through the rubber, the harder it is to get evenly distributed tension. These webbing laces have an easy to adjust ladder-lock on them, so they stay put pretty well.
