Cool – I like the zipper.

I see that 750 duck down is an option now instead of the 850 water-resistant down. Does any one have experience with real-world performance difference between the two? Does the 850 actually loft up more after a couple days of use?

What is a shiftless baffle? Thought the whole purpose of baffles was to contain the down. I could not find a definition on the EE website.

Wow, I'm amazed at the options Tim has added since I started this thread a couple of weeks ago. I started another thread in regards to best cheaper gear of 2013 and the duck down Enigma quilts would fall into that category. To be able to purchase a quilt for ~230$ that weighs ~20 ounces and is handmade in America seems like an incredible deal. I freely admit I don't know a thing about the differences between duck down and goose down (if there are any performance differences), but still, what a deal.

And best of luck in 2014 to Tim! From what I've been reading and the feedback I've received, the Enigma seems like a superior piece of minimalist gear.

I slept in my 20 degree Enigma last night in the backyard for the first time. Temps were down to 27 degrees. I slept nice and cozy with socks, a light base layer top and bottom, and a beanie. It's only one night, but my first reaction is very positive.

I've got my eye on an enigma, and I'm glad to see the addition of cheaper fills on the stadard quilts with the RevX going away. I can defintely see how it could streamline things for the EE folks and I appreciate that. I'm so happy with my RevX though I'm having a hard time spending money on the Enigma. I'm still not sure on the Drydown, looking forward to seeing what pricing looks like on a standard 800 fill when the website bugs get worked out.

I am by no means an expert on quilts, so maybe Tim or somebody else can chime in on this and confirm my answer regarding baffles. On previous versions of the Revelation quilt, Tim offered the square-shaped Karo step baffles that allowed you to shift down from one part of your quilt to another. Now the vertical baffles are redesigned to be shiftless, thus keeping the down in place.

Bit confused here.

Looking at 20 degree, now the Revelation cost more than the Enigma.

Appear to be same fabrics? Wts based on all 10D? Fabric info says 15D will add weight.

Can a 20" zipper on the Rev. weigh 5.5 oz? No.

so what does?

The Revelation has more features and thus must cost more to make. That's my guess. They are essentially the same bag now, the only difference being the sewn footbox or the zippered one.

And there is only a 3.5 ounce differences (or less) between them. That does still seem like a lot, but also keep in mind the Reg size of the Revelation fits users up to 2 inches taller than the Reg Enigma, so I am guessing there is more material as well.

well,the rev is 2" longer as well

the 20 rev is 22.75-17.25=5.5 oz, not 3.5

still doesnt seem to be enough difference for 5.5 oz

appears to be all out of 10D, no 1.5oz deduct for all 10d like used to say. In fact, says add wt for any 15D

Enigma Reg length is 72" Rev is 78" that's where to weight diff lives.

Tim; was most of the down shifting problems due more to the side Karo baffles as opposed to the centre one down the middle on top? Looking at Paul's side by side pics of his two quilts, the centre strip Karo's on the RevX look pretty plump and unlikely to shift, unless down from the side rows shifts first. So, what I'm leading to, is, would a combination of a centre section of those (14 inch wide?) Karo's be ok, if the rest of the quilt was then built with vertical channels like on the Enigma on the sides? That centre 12 or 14 inch section would have small 6 inch horizontal baffles every 12-14 inches to reduce downward flow of down, down that channel.

The shifting is gravity related so yes adding vertical baffles on the sides would limit the shifting to head/foot which is much less a problem and also make evening out faster and more straight forward.

There is a hammock quilt maker who does something like that.
