I'm trying to find a 100 weight full zip fleece hoody that weighs less than ~13 oz in men's size large. I've looked all over without any luck. I just want something that's simple with minimal pockets and features.

I though this would be a common item, but every jacket seems to either be full zip without a hood, have a hood and not be full zip, or weigh a lot more than I would like.

The only jacket I've found that kind of met my criteria was one by montbell, but unfortunately it didn't it me well.

Does anyone know where to find a jacket that ticks off all the requirements I've described above? (I should add that if you have a used one you want to sell then id be happy to buy it!) any help would be greatly appreciated… Thank you!

It's strange that Land's End offers a full zip 100 aircore for women but only a partial zip for men. That would have been your answer at around 10oz. :( Good luck!

Found these numbers:

Men's large 100 weight 1/4 zip fleece jacket/pullover weighs 9.1 oz

Boy's X Large 200 weight full zip jacket with hood weighs 16.6 oz (it's akin to a size medium, slimmish fit in men's)

Eastern Mountain Sports makes what you are looking for. It’s a PowerStretch fleece hoody. PowerStretch is a 100-wt fleece fabric from Polartec that is stretchy and has a smooth woven outer surface with a standard fuzzy fleece inner surface. It’s a really nice fleece.

I’ve got a couple of these EMS hoodies. Pretty basic. One chest pocket. Full front zip. Thumbholes to full the wrists down under gloves. They seem to fit a little looser than the more “athletic” brands.

My men’s medium weighs 12.8 ounces.

Well that was quick. You BPLers never cease to amaze me!

Thank you both for the suggestions. I went ahead and ordered the EMS hoodie, which happened to be on sale :-) I've never tried the power stretch fabric before and am excited to use it.

Thanks also Doug for your suggestions. The UltraClub fleece looks pretty appealing at $30 and a claimed weight of 9.4 (if I'm reading that right).

BTW, Power Stretch tights are fantastic, too. Power Stretch hoody and tights make fantastic camping sleepwear. Actually, pretty darn nice for lounging around on the sofa watching football on a winter day, too.

Some version of a Power Stretch hoody is typically what I wear as a top layer for hiking/snow shoeing on a dry winter day. Just enough to stay warm, but breathes well enough to not sweat to death (when temps are in the 20s to 30s (F).

I'd guess that 9.4oz refers to the fleece weight in oz/sqyd and not the total item weight.

Listed at/above your 13oz cut off but the discontinued MHW Mighty Power Hoodie is worth looking into. I have the heavier "Super" power version which is listed at 15.5oz but weighs 13.2 in size medium. So depending on your size it should work. FYI I'm usually between S/M and but even the medium is is fairly tight on me (cut for an endurance runner not a a climber…). The mighty in sizes S/M/L is currently on discount at SunnySports.com for $42.

Also the Piton Hybrid from pata is less than 12oz and has a hardface wind resistant fleece on the torso with more breathable arms and sides. Not sure if it's on sale anywhere though. If it weren't so expensive I would consider it.

I tried one on last week and it fit great. I really liked the thin stretch cuffs and the close fit of the hood. I’m just waiting to find one on sale because BD is crazy pricing this at $160.

Marmot Alpine Parallax, if you can still find one (there seem to be couple on Ebay)…Powerstretch front/arms, Powerdry backs…under helmet balaclava style hood, thumbholes, offset zipper…pretty nice piece.

Just used mine + Ether Driclime in CO with -0 to 33deg weather over the last few days…really like it, FWIW.
