Hi Guys, I posted on here earlier this year about wool button-downs that we launched on kickstarter under the Wool&Prince brand. You gave me some awesome feedback on the concept and some of you even backed us.

We're at it again. We've developed a merino T-shirt using a 16.5 micron at a 170gsm weight. Besides being what we think is the softest wool T-shirt on the market, it is for everyday wear (not just the outdoors).

Unlike wool T-shirts made by the activewear companies, our shirt has zero "technical" details. There's no logo, no overlock stitching, no sporty reflective doodads that'll make you feel like you're suiting up for a practice run on the slopes at Sochi. Instead, this is a plain, classic T-shirt that'll looks and feels as great on a long hike as it does out to dinner with friends.

We're looking to send a T-shirt to one or two guys. If you have any crazy adventures coming up, please tell. We're working on "Field Tester Series" too: http://blog.woolandprince.com/post/69181379982/field-tester-001

Cheers,

Mac

I would love to be a tester! I am obsessed with wool and was just talking about the need to expand my wool products to office-appropriate button downs!

What kind of adventure do I need to go on? How about wearing it to work everyday for a couple of weeks? :)

Jon and I were just chatting with each other and bragging about our head-to-foot wool coverage. I'd love to help with the testing :) I remember your last kickstarter, and would love to help out.

I'm currently biking and traveling all over the United States. Since September, I've done Canada, Vermont, New Hampshire, Colorado, and Massachusetts. Coming up in January, I'm headed to Camel's Hump, VT and parts of the Glastenbury Wilderness, and then I've got trips planned out to Boston for some cultured life and some rock concerts. By April, I should be touring again, hopefully in California.

I'm a noisy wool fanatic and have blogged about Merino as a travel shirt before, and I'm a writer, so you can bet I'll have a lot to say (and I can help you get the word out).

Contact me here or at mdilthey@gmail.com :)

Yeah, yeah. Max's adventure is way cooler than mine. But I'm field testing the office environment!!! :D

I'm planning out my base layers for a 5 week January start bike tour down the Atlantic coast and into the ACA Southern Tier route. I generally use Ibex. I'm pretty particular about what's up against my skin. That said I'd be willing to give it a run for my trip.

I've been wanting a lightweight merino T for the trail, would love to help out.

Clarence, did you address any of the durability issues that people brought up about wool last time? Are you mixing the Merino with any other stronger and more durable fibers?

I like supporting smaller businesses, but merino is just too dang expensive to buy new, with it's general lack of durability in the thinner and lighter forms.

How about a tester for use as a base layer under a lab coat for laboratory (molecular biology) work?

In all seriousness, I'd love to try it out in real world every day work/commute use.

I would love to test one of your shirts. I did an AT thru-hike this year and used the following t-shirts from GA-ME. One at a time of course and in order. Ibex Merino 150, Icebreaker 150 and a Patagonia merino 2. I alo used a Patagonia Merino 1 as my sleep shirt from end to end and Rab Meco 165 bottoms.

This April I am beginning a PCT trhu-hike and am still figuring out my clothing. Would love to give your shirt a test run and could compare it to the ones mentioned above in very similar circumstances.

Thanks,

J.

I also saw your last Kickstarter campaign. My plans are a bit far off, but I'd dig helping out if my itinerary works.

My wife and I have a three week, around-the-world trip planned in June: two weeks in China, a night in Seoul, a week in Turkey, and a night in Frankfurt. I've used merino on camping trips, but I know that it can really shine on less wilderness-oriented trips as well. I usually bring a pair of Icebreaker 150 tees on trips, but I'd be happy to take yours instead. I'll include a review here and on Flyertalk.com, so you get the benefit of two separate communities.

I can also contrast travel use with backcountry use on some trips in the Colorado Rockies, including an overnight Commando Run, other overnight and multi-day tours, and some day-trip meadow skipping.

We're also headed to Japan for a week at the end of March, if that helps.

You can contact me at djrez4 at gmail.

I'm a father with 2 young girls (under 2) at home, living in eastern PA. I'm not a huge adventurer, so I'm not going to play myself up. There's no time in my life for trips to the Sierras, packrafting Lake Superior, or even long sections on the AT. I'm just a regular guy, who gets out to local places for dayhikes mostly, with snowshoeing and snowboarding mixed in, and taking my older one outside on the trails. But I love my gear, and am falling in love with the usefulness of merino everywhere.

If you want this type of tester, hit me up.

Hi James,

Man, so much respect for doing the PCT. I'm hoping to do it some day.

Do you have a blog or anything?

Hi Just Justin Whitson,

A lot of the durability of 100% wool tees has to do with the weight of the tee. We could have beefed our tee up to 220gsm if the intended use was backingpacking.

Since we want this shirt to be worn casually and replace the normal cotton tee in everyday wear, we aren't worried about durability as long as you follow our care/wear instructions. Wear, hang to air, wear, hang to air, repeat. When it picks up an odor (we're expecting guys to get more than 5 to 10 wears out of these tees before washing) Then wash on cold and flat dry. Care and use will be the key to extending the life of the tees.

I work for a land conservation organization in SW Colorado. I'll PM you.

Edit: I emailed you. Didn't see a PM.

Will do. Commando run will likely be Jan or Feb; Japan is in March; Round-the-world is in June. How do I get in touch?

(I'd have offered to wear to the office, but decorum dictates that lawyers cover tattoos at work!)

Clarence sent me a button down as a tester about three weeks ago. I promised to wear the shirt everyday to work (I work in an office) for two weeks straight. Well, I am wearing my shirt now and have just 2 more days left on the experiment and I must say, this shirt rocks.

The Packaging: The shirt came in a very nice box and was beautifully folded and clipped down. I will say, I think the box and plastic bubble sheet was a bit overkill for a garment. The box was bigger than what my new Mac Book Pro came in. Beyond what I would argue is a waste of resources, the item game beautifully packaged and in pristine condition.

The Fit: I am 6' and about 160 pounds. I bought a medium and it fits me perfectly.

The Guarantee: Wool and Prince's claim is that this shirt can be worn over and over and it will continue to look AND smell like new. Well….It's true folks. I'll post a photo on my last day (10 days of continual office wear) but this thing looks the exact same as it did the day I unfolded it and put it on. Not a single wrinkle and it smells like it just came from the dry cleaners (and I wear organic hippy deodorant!).

I gotta say, I think Wool and Prince is on to something with these button downs. If the quality of this shirt is any indication…I think their Tees will be quite nice, though I hope the release a long sleeve version.

Disclaimer: I am not paid by Wool and Prince. I was offered the shirt free for testing through this thread and have no obligation to say nice things about the company.

I just wanted to throw in another opinion on W&P… again, not being paid, in fact, not even a tester here, just a super satisfied customer. I pre-ordered two of their button downs through the original kick-starter, both arrived in early December. Since they arrived, I have worn each at least 2x weekly, more often than not, 3x. The shirts still look, smell, and feel brand new, no odor or wrinkles. They have yet to be washed or cleaned in any manner. They are insanely comfortable and nearly every person who sees them immediately asks where they can get one – they look that good.

+1 For W&P, I can't wait for their t-shirt collection!

(PS, also ordered 2 more of their new color schemes when they released those!!)

I'd be delighted to field test anything merino at any time. I practically live in merino head to toe, year round. Home, work, outdoors, hiking, watching tv, sleeping, beach, out to dinner.
