My wife and I haven't been to the Winds. So, we're thinking about an extended tour of them next summer. Based on what I've read, doing the CDT through the Winds, with Titcomb basin and Cirque of Towers as side excursions looks to be a great plan. Then we'd need to sort out a shuttle return. Any suggestions for improvements on that plan that would be similar effort/distances? Any loop options, even if slightly longer (just not twice as long) that would be as good in terms of scenery and overview of the region to avoid the need to shuttle?

You might want to read Nancy Pallister's excellent book, "Beyond Trails in the Wind River Mountains." She describes a number of long loops you can take. If you have sufficient skills, you could combine the High Route (described in a recent post here) with a return on the Fremont/Highline trail (CDT).

The Great Outdoors Shop in Pinedale is the place to contact about their shuttle and also for trail conditions.
