Am I missing something? These bivy bags look remarkably similar, only TiGoat's bivy is almost half the price and still lighter weight. Is there something about the MLD bivy that I'm missing?

MLD Superlight Large: $200 at 7.25oz

Ptarmigan Bivy: $100 at 4.8oz

i believe the mld bivy is comparable to the tigoat raven omni. both will hold thick pad and winter bag. I think weights are similar and each piece varies by some degree anyway. Ptarmigan is smaller. The Patigan my son uses also is chest zipper only. For me this was tough. disclosure: never used mld superlight

My experience between the TiGoat and MLD bivies is the MLD ones are more breathable which can be both a good and bad thing depending on the situation. The very fact that the TiGoat talks about how waterproof it is would seem to confirm that nothing has changed since I last owned one. The less breathable the bivy is, the more condensation you'll have inside it. However, it will cut wind better keeping you warmer when its cold and windy. I like a highly breathable bivy during the warmer months, and a less breathable one when it turns cold for that reason.

Also, the Large size MLD Superlight bivy is bigger than the TiGoat bivy and the weight for it on the website is 7oz not 7.25oz.
