Never liked the top "brain" part on my Osprey bag so I converted it to a roll top. Also removed a lot of the random straps, pulls, buckles, etc. Roll top doesn't buckle but is permenately attached to the side and you just pull it down to close. Thought this would do a better job at compressing the back rather than have the two sides buckle at the top. Used some plastic strips I cut from $1 placemats from Ikea to make the roll top.

Let me know what you think!

It does look like an awesome mod
But got to ask… how much does this size weigh stock and how much does it weigh now?

(otherwise how will I know if I have to go out and buy pack number "x")

I wish I knew too! I don't have any type of scale so I can't measure. the pack is listed as 37 oz. on their site. Did some research and found that the brain weighed 4 oz. The pack had LOTS of bigger straps, pull etc. that I took off. The difference is enough that it was really easy to feel how much lighter it was than before just by picking up it. Would guess it's definitely under 30 oz. now. Not bad for a framed pack with back suspension!

Probably is I just picked up a GG Gorrilla on their sale and have a one pack policy and want to give the Gorrilla a try so this may have to go! Or I could break my rule :)
