I've got a pair of Kokatat Seeker water booties and I'm wondering what might be used to strengthen the bottom against wearing through. I've used them to keep my feet warm with wool socks in 20-30 degrees in the snow for quite a stretch on the AT, however I'd like to use them for running in town this winter and would need a layer of protection.

I'm thinking that I'd be between adding plasti-dip to the bottom of the bootie (I've never used this, no idea how it might turn out) or gluing a new layer of material onto the bottom.

A nice thing about the plasti-dip (or something comparable) is that it could be reapplied to weakened areas.

Advice or ideas?

Thanks

Standard goop in the rafting community is McNett Aquaseal, for repairing, sealing, or reinforcing stuff like wetsuits, sandals, and wetsuit booties.

I always have a tube in my raft repair kit. Doesn't keep forever, needs refreshing every year or two.

I've never used the two-part Aquaseal, supposedly faster. For at home reinforcement or repairs, save your money and let it sit a day or two.

I'd try SHOE GOO. Thsi stuff is formulated to reinforce boot soles at wear areas. I've used it on soles and boot upppers. It ALWAYS stays on and wears like iron.

One tube should do two soles. BE sure to clean the soles well with alcohol on a cloth adn let them dry well befoe applying SHOE GOO.
