Do you mean compression sacks? No, don't do that with any down gear. The stuff-sack they often come with, for use when backpacking, sure, although some people don't use stuff-sacks. Less weight, so they just put everything in the backpack together. I use stuff-sacks. I believe they protect the gear. I don't even own a compression sack. When not backpacking, I store down gear loose, and lofted, and away from my 3 rotten cats. Much better for them.
Like my down sleeping bag, I put my down pants and down jacket in a water proof stuff sack inside my backpack. If it rains I want to make sure they are dry when I get to camp. Also… the stuff sacks protect these ultra thin shells on down gear from getting damaged by other gear when pushing it all into the backpack. I never put any down in a compression sack as I am concerned it will damage the lofting ability of down. And, yes, I understand that others think compression will not damage down, but that is no my way.

I didn't mean compression sack just stuff sack…I was wondering about just putting down pants in with quilt to offer better protection then just putting them in the bottom of my backpack, but you answered that!
Thanks Kelly I won't over stuff them!!

I usually just stuff my GFG down pants, along with all my other down gear, right into my pack liner, however, there has been times that I also stuffed all of my down garments into one of the ZPacks dry sacks. They still loft up just as much as they did when new…
Chad, I watched your video at least three times befour I bought the GFG down pants (your right they are awesome pants)…thanks for the great videos you do! I saw where you said you stuff them at the bottom of your pack, but I'm a little worried if other things in the pack are wet they may get wet also, but I guess it's just one of those what if.
Thanks again chad!
