has anyone made this to see how it performs? or is there a company that actually sells something similar to this? i believe something like this is what i would be interested in, but am no good at sewing. my theory is that if the conditions get especially bad, i could lower the tarp and/or scoot my upper body more towards the middle, allowing for the possibility that the lower portion of the bivy would get wet without too much of an issue. seems like it could be made much lighter than the 10 oz listed as the weight as well since full waterproof bivys are made that weigh half this much. i feel like with the right materials it could easily get into the 4-6 oz range.
ideally i want the protection a bivy offers in case of especially foul weather, but to be able to sit up and move some/read while still being protected from bugs. the only options im seeing though are full bivy plus something like the simblissity bug netting. the little space offered by tying off the roof of the bivy just doesnt seem enough. any comments/opinions would be welcome and greatly appreciated.
