Mainly a lurker but since there hasn't been much written about this pad I thought I would give some views. This is the most comfortable pad that I've used but that is about normal for Eped pads. While the weight is heavy(21 oz.) I don't hesitate to use it without a ccf pad under it. As far as its R4.1 rating I just tried it out during the recent Artic blast that dropped down to Oklahoma. The first night was 28* with 20 to 30 mph winds. Second night I recorded a low of 18* with no wind. Wore Smartwool base layers and a old MB ss U.L. down inner under a Golite one season quilt. Both nights slept straight through. For a mild winter area this would be a nice 4 season pad, especially if on sale.

Thanks for the review.
I'm 6'3'' and 165 lbs, stomach sleeper (arms above head type). I'm looking for a new pad and wanted to see if the Downmat Lite 5 would be thick enough to keep me comfortable. I have a feeling it will, but I cant get out to test one at REI for a while.
My understanding is:
* UL7 has I-beam construction and is 7cm (~2.75") thick in the center and ~3" or so at the edges
* Downmat Lite 5 has welded construction and is 5cm (~2") thick in the center and ~2.5" thick at the edges
I also undertand the difference between I-beam and welded construction is that the welding leaves a deeper "gap" between the baffles and somewhat inhibits the relative conductivity of heat (or something like that).
So any word on comfort compared to the "7" series pads from Exped?
