EE Prodigy Quilt as an Underquilt

I am dappleing in hammocks again and was wondering if my Enlightened Equipment Prodigy 40 degree quilt will also be warm at 40 degrees as an Underquilt? I have also noticed that many underquilts are only 40" long. Has anyone ever tried folding the quilt in half to double the loft? It would still be about 40" long since it's 78" in length.
