Wow, I just got back from Marshalls of all places last evening and am very surprised. Found this UL packable jacket and was happy to find it only weighs 8.2 oz in size Medium (i am 6'0, 175 and the medium fits perfectly like an athletic cut large). looks to be about 2oz of down. i read online that it is 90/10 duck down. don't know the fill power, guessing 550+. good enough for me at this price. two zippered hand-warmer pockets and two internal drop pockets. also packs easily into its own pocket. i was biking around my neighborhood in 40 degree weather and it felt like it kept me as warm as my 1/4 zip patagonia nano puff (10oz). the orange color is more of a pumpkin over hunting orange. not bad at all. Made by Hawke & Co.

This could be my favorite down find of all time for the weight and price…highly recommended. no affiliation with marshalls of hawke & co.

The only problem with SOME of these cheap down jackets is that, after a wash or two, SOME of them start to leak down through the lining at an alarming rate, because SOME of the lining fabrics used are not really "down-proof".

This may or may NOT be the case with yours (I hope not), but it happened with mine (a different brand name), and I think people should keep in mind the possibility that this could happen. BTW, I have not had the same experience with more expensive "brand name" down jackets.

For a town beater I picked up a " Royal Falcon" XXL from Walmart (start the ribbing, I needed milk, its 2 blocks from home). Looks to be exactly the same jacket, confirmed by others. In XXL mine is 13.4 oz. Warm enough for town light enough and cheap enough for a canoe trip but it's no Plasma for sure.

For the second year in a row, TJ Maxx has been getting some Marmot Zeus down jackets for $99. It's an 800 fill power sewn through down jacket (no hood). Stuffs into it's own pocket for easy carry in a pack. It's not an arctic expedition jacket, but I wear mine ALL the time. Around town. In the pack as a windy summit jacket on a dry fall/winter day. Really nice jacket, just the right weight. And, half price at TJ is hard to beat.

I think it weighs about 14 ounces.

There is one on eBay and the seller is trying to get $98. Good luck :)

Hawke makes a vest like this too.
