Insulation Bonanza: Nunatak and Cocoon

Remodeling—was that the quid pro quo for all those insulation riches? :-)>
The big question is—what do you think will get used more ? —the Skaha Plus or the Cocoon Hoody?

Oh, and the Cocoon Pro parka would have color-coordinated better with that Nunatak Bag.

Are you wearing the Cocoon garments and the Nunatak Skaha and ARC A.T. in the last picture? If so, that has to be super warm. What temps you looking to use that in?

Haha. If it was I got the better deal. This was just a quick and dirty paint and hardware remodel. No floors, counters or cabinets until we save up for "the big one". I've been going through gear like crazy. Stuff comes in, stuff goes out. I had next to nothing when I got into multiday biking not long ago but I'm close to done at this point. The two Micropuff pullovers (small and med) will probably be sold next although I'm keeping the vest. The wife wants the Montbell Parka (pockets) instead of the Cocoon Hoody but I might be ordering her a pair of the XS pants now that she's seen them.

I "think" the Cocoon Hoody will get used more but we'll see. The Skaha was intended for the sleep setup and Alaska biking trips. The Cocoon will be for "bivy" use when I think I will be back before dark most of the year. As for winter casual wear? Hmmm more durable or pockets… :)

Yea Kevin the Cocoon Pro would have been better coordinated but I didn't want the extra weight and didn't need the extra water resistance. :p I always use a bivy with the quilt anyway as it's my sole shelter and draft resistance. I could have almost gotten away with a small Cocoon hoody too but with the medium I can stuff a men's small Micropuff Vest underneath for a sub 6oz warmth boost and I would have worried about sleeve length.

David: I'm wearing the Cocoon pants in all pictures and either the Skaha or the Cocoon in the other ones. I'm not sure how far I can push the system. The Skaha Plus/AT bivy combo already did 40s with ease. The pants are really warm for only 7oz and I can't imagine how warm both jackets, the pants, the AT AND the bivy would be. I'm going to have to head up to some upper elevations to test the limits as it's pretty hot in Denver at the moment.
