It might sound stupid but as some of you guys here save weight pretty much everywhere, did any of you think about cutting his/her hair to save the last ounces? I guess depending on the haircut we are talking about serveral hundred grams…
(And no, I have no plans to do so, but it just came to my head ;)
Jun 27, 2007 at 3:24 pm #1393663I have my hair cut a week before hikes because that makes my hat fit best.
A little length is warmer and provides some sun protection. Longer is harder to keep clean and takes too long to dry.
Much more complex than just weight.
Jun 27, 2007 at 3:58 pm #1393666Years ago when I was just looking into getting my pack lighter, I went to the local outfitters and they told me to talk to some guy "Chris" on the weekend, as he was an ultralight fanatic. When I finally met him, he was a shorter fella with a seriously huge set of dreadlocks down past his waist – he must have been growing them for a decade. Months later I went back to ask him about hammock camping, and he had shaved his head to the skin. I asked him why…and you can guess what his answer was…
